Why record care is important

Better sound quality
Dust and dirt not only affect the appearance of your records, but can also cause scratches and annoying noise. Regular care ensures that the sound remains clear and authentic - so you can enjoy your music in the best quality.

Longer lifespan
Records are delicate treasures. By cleaning them regularly, you protect them from wear and tear and damage that can be caused by dirt. This increases their lifespan and ensures long-term listening pleasure.

Increased value
Records that are well looked after not only retain their original value, but can even be more desirable for collectors. A well-preserved collection is a real gem - both for you and for potential buyers.

With the right care you can get the best out of your records!

Questions about the product

Here you will find frequently asked questions about the original Archifix box.

Depending on the degree of soiling, up to 200 records can be cleaned with 1 liter of Disco-Antistat-Mixture.
Over time, the cleaning agent accumulates contaminants (e.g., grease, nicotine) and dirt particles dissolved in the mixture that cannot be filtered out. As a result, the initially clear cleaning fluid becomes increasingly brownish. If the mixture becomes noticeably brownish and cloudy, we recommend replacing the fluid, as its cleaning effectiveness decreases, thus deteriorating the quality of the cleaning.

Yes, you can filter the cleaner after use and return it to the bottle. Your cleaning kit includes a small funnel and filter paper for this purpose. Please note:
Please also read the instructions regarding the maximum number of records that can be cleaned with 1 liter. As soon as the mixture is clearly
brownish-cloudy, you should definitely replace the cleaner

When closed, the mixture has an almost unlimited shelf life.
Bottles should be used within six months.

Always store the mixture upright, ideally in a cool, dark place.

Don't worry, this is just abrasion from the antistatic agent contained in the fluid that remains on the record after cleaning. Neither your needle nor the record will be damaged.
The cause of this problem is usually that the record wasn't completely dry after cleaning when it was put back in its sleeve and stored. Even if the surface of the record appears dry, it may still be moist in the groove. If the record is then stored, the moisture in the groove cannot dry or only very slowly, and the antistatic agent doesn't fully harden. When the record is played, the still-soft antistatic layer is rubbed off by the needle, resulting in noticeable "white fluff" on the needle.
Please keep in mind that the drying time specified in the instructions is only a guideline and depends on various factors (e.g., ambient temperature, humidity, etc.). We therefore recommend letting the records dry for longer than too short a time after cleaning.
You can easily remove the dirt deposited on the stylus with a stylus cleaning brush, a suitable brush, or special stylus cleaners. The affected records should be washed again with your Disco-Antistat cleaning device.

Typically, streaking is an indication that the cleaning fluid is saturated and needs to be replaced. In this case, repeat the plate wash with a fresh cleaning fluid.
Dirty inner sleeves can also cause streaking on the record. We therefore recommend replacing the inner sleeves with new ones after cleaning to avoid cross-contamination from dirt residue on the inside of the sleeves!

After we changed the recipe of our mixture (since 2024 the mixture contains no alcohol), you can easily clean your delicate shellac records with it.
